In Dublin Sports Injury Clinic we provide Deep Tissue Massage to a variety of our patients who are active like runners, gym goers or typical office desk workers. Deep tissue massage is one form of massage therapy that focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue in the body.
Some of the same strokes as classic massage therapy may be used, but the movement is generally slower and the pressure will be deeper and concentrated on the areas where the patient feels tension and pain mostly on fascia and connective tissue. It is normal that these structures can tighten causing either pain or restriction in joint movement. This affects how your body moves which will impair performance.
In Dublin Sports Injury Clinic we are trained to be able to go deeper than just the muscle and in a lot of cases will also perform some mobilisations to the underlying joints and ligaments.
